Car Rental Recommendations
For many years our guests have shared their frustrating, annoying, and time-consuming car rental experiences originating upon their arrival at Cancun's International Airport.
In fact, the number one negative comment we receive from guests is directly attributed to their often terrible experience dealing with car rental issues.
Common and reoccurring experiences typically include:Car reservation is not honored and no car is available.
A car is available, but not the type or size reserved.
Long lines and extremely slow service processing the rental.
Having to deal with unfamiliar driving customs, directions, and conditions after a long flight.
Possibly having to stop at the first gas station for fill-up. Typically cars are rented with less than a quarter tank of gas. This chore is time consuming and a potentially confusing experience since you will be dealing in Mexican currency and liters as opposed to dollars and gallons.
Flat tires or car problems (unfortunately fairly frequent occurrences) could lead to further delays and frustrations not to mention dangerous highway situations.
Making your way to Taninah on an unfamiliar highway in a foreign country can add stress to your trip.
Upon your departure, you will have to leave Taninah with enough time to deal with returning your rental car (usually requiring you to leave up to an hour sooner than if you donﾕt have to return a rental carrent a car).
These risks and common complaints led us to offer a less stressful, usually more affordable, time saving, and much more convenient alternative.
Because of the above mentioned risks AND because our seven-night rental rates include round trip ground transportation between Cancun International Airport and Taninah (please see rules and restrictions) we suggest you skip renting a car at the airport altogether.
Rates for reservations consisting of seven-nights or more include round trip ground transportation.
Instead, use our included professional transportation service to get you to Taninah on your arrival.
STP Caribe personnel will meet you upon your arrival, help you with your luggage, and get you on the way to enjoying your vacation in comfortable, air conditioned vehicles with licensed, insured, professional drivers who know the roads and customs, and can get you to Taninah quickly and safely.
On arrival at Taninah, most guests spend the rest of the day exploring Taninah. In fact, many guests don't leave the property until after their second full day at Taninah!
Regardless, any day you desire, we will arrange for Executive Car Rental, located in Puerto Aventuras (just 10 minutes north of Taninah), to pick you up and take you to their office so that you can rent one of their vehicles in a non-stressful environment. Rental rates are generally higher; however, we believe the benefits far out-weigh the nominally higher rental rates.
We beleive benefits include:
No waiting at the airport and/or dealing with one or more frustrating rental car companies. Also STP Caribe cannot wait or delay service while one or more party members process the car rental reservation.
STP Caribe personnel will meet you at the arrival gate, handle your luggage, and help you to your private, air conditioned vehicle.
Your driver will take you directly to Taninah without delays. No driving on unfamiliar highways, having to stop for gas, converting liters to gallons or dollars to pesos, or dealing with non-English speaking service station attendants, flat tires, or other car mishaps.
Any road problems on the way to Taninah will be dealt with by the driver and the transportation company quickly, efficiently, and safely. All drivers carry cellular phones and radios and can call for highway assistance if needed or in case of an emergency.
Returning the rental car to Puerto Aventuras, the Executive staff will take you back to Taninah at no charge. Usually, this is done the day before your departure which simply makes your departure day much less stressful and allows you to stay at Taninah until the last possible minute.
You wonﾕt have to leave Taninah early, fill up the car, deal with possible highway troubles, or deal with returning a rental car at a busy international airport.
On your departure day, STP Caribe will pick you up at Taninah and get you to the airport without delays or having to deal with stressful and time-consuming rental car return issues.
Arrive at the airport relaxed and comfortable and ready to head back home.
Our sole intention is to make your entire vacation as pleasant and hassle free as possible. Although we are certain your stay at Taninah will be wonderful and memorable, we would like to ensure that getting to and departing Taninah are also pleasant experiences.
